John Cook

John Cook (PhD) is Professor in Education at the University of West England, Bristol, UK. He has over 12 years project management experience and has been part of research and development grant proposals that have attracted over £5 million in competitive external funding. Recently this has included FP7 IP MATURE and Learning Layers. In addition, he has published/presented around 240 refereed articles and invited talks. His research interest is in the general area of informal and lifelong learning; specifically, he conducts research into five related areas: work-based practice, ‘informal learning’, mobile learning in all sectors, appropriation and user-generated contexts. John is a founding member of the London Mobile Learning Group (www.londonmobilelearning.net/). He was Chair/President of the Association for Learning Technology (2004-06).  John sits on various journal editorial boards and conducts Assessor and review work for the EU and UK Research Councils.
